Philip van der Westhuizen
Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Company Secretary of FOR SA
Philip currently serves as a Directing Elder and the Operations Director of Joshua Generation Church (JoshGen), a charismatic church with fifteen congregations in and around the Western Cape and a membership total of approximately 2,500 people – see www.joshgen.co.za for more information.
Philip’s testimony begins in 1999, when he was invited to a get-together of believers in Table View in the Western Cape. Having heard the Good News of Jesus and having witnessed the joy of those who already knew Him, Philip that night made a first-time commitment to the Lord that would forever change his life and his destiny.
Soon after his commitment, Philip became part of the formal planting of JoshGen in Table View. From the outset, he served the church lovingly, diligently and faithfully in whatever way he could – whether helping with church administration, greeting those coming through the door, or pastorally caring for members in the church.
Having recognised him as a man of skillful hands and a servant heart, JoshGen employed Philip as its full-time Operations Director in 2005 – a position which he still occupies today. As Operations Director, Philip is responsible for the church’s day to day operations, financial and general administration, human resources, corporate governance and compliance. He is a duly qualified Company Chartered Secretary and member of Chartered Secretaries South Africa (CSSA), through whom he also obtained his Corporate Governance qualification.
In the same year, the Lord pointed Philip out as a leader in his Body – one whom He has gifted with great wisdom, fairness, humility and a pastoral heart. Philip was accordingly ordained as an Elder in JoshGen. From 2008 to 2010, Philip also served as Lead Elder of one of JoshGen’s congregations.
Philip currently lives in Table View in the Western Cape. He is a family man who enjoys time at home or in the outdoors with his wife Marli, and their daughters Eden and Maia.
